-The editor

FPS: fraps per second

TOOLS: select everything needed from here

MOUSE: your mouse

RANGE: deactivation range around your mouse

PLAYER: select the players starting point with this icon

PLAY: test your map

TO INTERNET: got to the EFPS community, or website

Your first game:

Let´s create your very first game together! Follow this guide step by step.

So, at the first, we need a small building to our map. Select the "segments" option from tools, and then select the "floor"

Then the program asks you the texture of this floor. Choose the texture you like from "textures"- folder

NOTE:You can change the texture, and other settings of the tool you are using by pressing C

Now we paint the builgings floor to our map, like this:

After this, select the "wall" from "segments", change it´s texture by pressing "C"

Then place the walls around the building. (Rotate the wall by pressing "R")

NOTE: Remember to leave a place for door!

Now let´s place the door! Select the "door" from the "segments" and change it´s texture again by pressing "C"

You may noticed, that every object haves diffirent options.

Place the door to our map:

After this it is time to test out map!

Try to press the "play" icon:

Won´t work? It is because you dont have a player in your map!

Now press the "player" icon:

and place our player right the middle of our map:

Important note! Exit the game mode by pressing the "BACKSPACE!"

Now let´s test our map!

It should look like this:

So, what this all means? Let me explain it to you:

HEALTH: how much health do you have. The player dies when health reaches zero.

AMMO: your weapons ammunition.

CROSSHAIR: middlepoint of the screen, this is where you shoot.

WEAPON: current weapon you have in your hand.

Oh, and the buttons..

move with WASD

shoot with LEFT MOUSEBUTTON

jump with SPACE

buy pickups with F

zoom with RIGHT MOUSEBUTTON

exit game mode with BACKSPACE

So, as you noticed, the player has the pistol, and 100hp at the start.

Aaaaand we dont have a ceiling...

The very next step is to change some of the normal settings!

Press the "settings" from the tools, and select the "global settings"

You will get a options, that allows you to create a game just like you want to!

But at the first, let´s change the weapon.

Select the "players weapon at the start up" from the "global settings"

You will geta list of weapons, that you are able to use during the game.

But let´s try to add some own weapons to the game!

Select the "own weapons"

Now select the "own weapon 1"

The program will now ask you the file of this weapon.

Got the the "weapons" folder, and open the "M16" folder.

There should be a file, that is named as "M16.EFWE"

Open that file, and then the program ask´s you how many clips the player will have at the start.

So, let´s try our map again!

Pretty cool, huh?

Oh.. Still no ceiling..

Let´s make the ceiling!

Choose the "ceiling" from the "segments"

Change it´s texture with "C", and place the ceiling to our map, like this:

After this, let´s make another room to our building!

But at this time, DONT place the ceiling.

and oh, before you plave ANYTHING, choose the floor again, change it´s texture, and now, press the "enable lighting"

Then agree the question that will be shown.

Now, do the same with walls!

Change the texture, and enable lighting!

Now it should look like this:

So, let´s test our map again! If you made all the steps correctly, the other room should be completely dark!

So, we have to add some lighting to the room!

Select the "light" from the "triggers"

So, now in the editor, the light´s range and colour should been shown as circle around the light, but now it doesn´t?

Delete the light with RIGHT MOUSEBUTTON from a safe distance of our map (so it doesn´t delete anything else)

Now, press the "settings" again, and choose the "show the deactivation range around the mouse:"

This should delete the red circle around our mouse.

So, this red circle was the range of deactivation, and can bee changed.

The range help´s the computer to handle everything in EFPS, because if there would not be any range, the FPS would drop dramatically.

simply: object showns if in the range, and object shows as a black square ehwn outside of the range:

So, now we can place the light´s.

When the light is selected, it´s colour, and range will be drawn as a circle around the light.

The range and the colour can be changed by pressing "C"

So, place the light´s like this:

So, now the other room is lighted. You can test it if you want to!

But now a simple question.. WHAT KIND OF A FPS WOULD BE WITHOUT ANY ENEMIES!?

Let´s place one in our map!

Choose the "enemy" from the "entitys". Now the program should ask you the model file of the enemy.

Go to the "models" folder, and search a folder that is named "robot enemy".

Select the "enemy.EFMO" file as our enemy

But dont place the enemy yet!

Press the "C" button and look, so many options! You can make your enemy as evil as you want to!

Now, when you have set up your enemy, try to press numbers 1-8

You are able to rotate our enemy in z,x, and y-axis, and you are able to scale our enemy!

So now, place the enemy in second room, and test the map.

It should look like this:

I hope you kicked he´s ass, because i didn´t..

So, how about the other objects?

Choose the "add model" from entitys, and then open the "box" model.

Press again the "C", and you have opened a major amount of options!

You can make the objects destroyable, enable their lighting.. And much more!

So, now, choose the "Z:" and vhange the Z: value to 3

Now place the box anywhere in the other room!

Again, you are able to rotate the object, and scale it with keys 1-8

Oh, and the second rooms ceiling..

Let´s take a wall from the segments, and then press the "z", and change the Z-value to 64

Place the walls on top of the second rooms walls, like this:

So, now the ceiling!

Take the floor from the segments, and change it´s Z-Value to.. Hmm.. 64+64=128

Now place the ceiling on top of the second room, and there!

In so little time, we have created a cool little map, with an bad guy to attack, and we created some rooms, light´s and added own weapons to our game!

So, now you all think like: "but how i can build a game!?"

Simple, just save your map, and then press the "files" from tools, and select the "build map" option. Now you just have to select the map we just saved, and the program does almost everything for you!

HOPE THAT THIS GUIDE HELPED YOU, BECAUSE IT TOOK SOME TIME TO WRITE..
